Videos of the week: Friend to Friend and Kiss on the Lips 1998

I think it’s time for a little blond buzzcut flashback from 1998!

“Friend to Friend” is a Lungfish cover that The Blackhearts used to play live all the time, but never released.

Kiss on the Lips was released on 2006′s Shira Girl compilation, All Girl Stage Crew Vol. 2. Love this song!

This performance got a bit of media coverage too. Check it out:

Spin.com, 6/11/12:

Against Me! opened for the Cult Friday night at Manhattan’s Terminal 5, marking the band’s first New York City appearance for singer Laura Jane Grace since she came out as transgender last month (her live debut came two weeks ago in San Diego). For a little extra oomph, the band was joined onstage by Joan Jett, who sang the Replacements’ “fuck your gender norms” anthem “Androgynous” with Grace (wearing more or less matching outfits and tattoos, we might add). … Read the rest here.

Some of these vids are in HD. Joan looks great!! I’m including ones I feel have the best video and audio. Some are the same song by different people, but they all capture something different about Joan.

Video of the week: “Hip Hop Joan Jett” by @justinamusic

I think this is kinda cool. Based on the lyrics, I assume that Justina is the “hip hop Joan Jett” from 1976:

I’m the hip hop Joan Jett
I love rock ‘n’ roll, drugs, and rough sex

To be the hip hop Joan Jett of today, Justine would have to update the lyrics to:

I’m the hip hop Joan Jett
I love rock ‘n’ roll, cars, and cute pets

On second thought, the rough sex could/should still apply. Getting old shouldn’t ruin ALL your fun. Carry on.) 😀

Enjoy!

Hi everybody! I hope you are all doing well.

I hope this makes up for me missing the last three Videos of the Week. I apologize; I try to not let my life interfere with this blog, but sometimes I can’t help it. Over a FULL HOUR of live Joan Jett should make us all feel better though. Enjoy!
