Joan Jett on the “Stairway to Seven” in Scripps Howard’s annual Super Bowl poll

Scripps Howard released their Annual Celebrity Super Bowl Poll today! Joan has picked the New York Giants to beat the New England Patriots, 38-35, in Super Bowl #46.

Joan has correctly predicted the last six Super Bowl winners, with seven correct predictions overall since Super Bowl #35, when she started participating in the poll. She has the longest unbroken winning streak, a title she took from Bill O’Reilly in Super Bowl #44. If Joan’s prediction is closest to the final score, she will also win the Scripps Howard Super Sage Award.

We’ll find out Joan’s fate when Super Bowl XLVI airs on NBC this Sunday, February 5, at 6:00 PM EST. GO JOAN!!

Joan Jett picks Green Bay to win Super Bowl #45

Can Joan Jett successfully predict the NFL Super Bowl winner six years in a row? HELL  NO

Scripps Howard News Service has published their 22nd Annual Celebrity Super Bowl Poll, and they’ve asked our Joanie to participate for the eleventh consecutive year. She has predicted that the Green Bay Packers (her favorite team) will beat the Pittsburgh Steelers (my favorite team) with a score of 38-24.

Joan has correctly predicted the winning team in the last five super bowls and hopes to continue her streak, which is currently the longest unbroken streak in the pollJINX!! See a list of Joan’s other Super Bowl predictions and her results HERE.

Ordinarily, I’d be rooting for Joan here, but not against my Pittsburgh Steelers! Sunday will be an exciting game, whatever the outcome.

Joan, as much as I love the Steelers, I’d still like to keep the peace around here, so I have a proposal for you: Why don’t we make a friendly bet? The mayors of both cities are each pledging various goods and services to the winning city, so why can’t we? Here is my proposal:

If Green Bay wins, I will:

  1. Buy, and wear regularly, a Green Bay Packers custom jersey with “Jetthead” written on the back, and
  2. Donate 100 dollars of my own money to the charity of YOUR choice.

If Pittsburgh wins, you could:

  1. Play a concert in Pittsburgh, and
  2. Wave our Terrible Towel on stage.

What do you say? I am open to negotiations. 😀

IT’S ON LIKE DONKEY KONG LADY! GO STEELERS!

Joan Jett has the current longest-running Super Bowl streak!

Remember when I told you that Joan Jett has correctly predicted the last 5 consecutive Super Bowl winners in the annual Scripps Howard Celebrity Super Bowl poll? Well, thanks to Bill O’Reilly ending his 6-game streak this year by picking the Colts, Joan’s 5-game streak is currently the longest-running celebrity streak in the poll. From scrippsnews.com:

Fox News host Bill O’Reilly picked the Colts, ending his streak of six consecutive correct Super Bowl predictions. The longest current streak now belongs to rock star Joan Jett, who has picked the last five Super Bowl winners.

Actor Haley Joel Osment holds the record, picking eight consecutive winners between 2000-07. He correctly picked the Saints this year, marking the 10th time in 11 years that the former star of “The Sixth Sense” has forecast the winning team.

The celebrity who comes closest to predicting the actual score wins the Scripps Howard Super Sage Award. Joan has never won one. This year, that honor went to actor Joe Mantegna, who predicted that The Saints would win 28-17, which was 3 points away from the actual score, 31-17. Joan’s prediction of 45-33 wasn’t that close.

Go Joanie!!

Joan Jett picks the New Orleans Saints to win Super Bowl

For the last 21 consecutive years, Scripps Howard News Service has polled hundreds of celebrities and public figures for their predictions on which NFL team will win the Super Bowl. This is the 10th consecutive year that Joan Jett has participated. This year, she picked the New Orleans Saints to beat the Indianapolis Colts, 45 to 33.

Joan has correctly predicted the winner of the last four consecutive Super Bowls. Over all, she has been correct 55.56% of the time, correctly predicting the winners of five of the last nine Super Bowls.

Every year since 2003, the celebrity who correctly predicts the winner and comes the closest to predicting the actual score wins the Scripps Howard Super Sage Award Trophy. Joan has never won, but last year actress Patricia De Leon became the first woman to ever win the award. That’s at least one barrier to females that Joan doesn’t have to knock down herself. 😉
