Rolling Stone poll: Who should get into the Rock Hall next year?

Vote for The Runaways OR Joan Jett and The Blackhearts on rollingstone.com!

Rollingstone.com’s weekly poll asks, “Who Should Be Inducted Next Into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? The Runaways and The Blackhearts are BOTH eligible, so I think we should give them some love. But be careful: you can only vote once, and only for one artist, so don’t spam them with both bands or the votes won’t count. If you vote for Joan, please remember to include The Blackhearts.

There are THREE ways to vote – but only vote once, and for only ONE artist or group!

  1. In the comments of the online article HERE,
  2. On facebook.com/Rollingstone, or
  3. On Twitter using the hashtag #weekendrock.

Hope the KStew fans bring it like last time!

No Joan Jett for the 2013 Rock Hall

The Blackhearts were not inducted to the 2013 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame today, but we Jettheads should still be proud! We got them on the official fan ballot. Our vote counted, and our voices were heard – the entire world knows that we want Joan Jett and the Blackhearts into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!

The 2013 Rock Hall inductees are:

Performer Category:
·    Heart
·    Albert King
·    Randy Newman
·    Public Enemy
·    Rush
·    Donna Summer

Ahmet Ertegun (non performer) Award:

·    Lou Adler
·    Quincy Jones

Congratulations to all inductees, and congratulations to Joan Jett and The Blackhearts for being nominated two years in a row!

The Blackhearts made the Rock Hall fan ballot! Inductees announced Dec 11

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will hold a press conference tomorrow, December 11, at 2:00 PM EST/11:00 AM PST, to announce the 5 or 6 artists that will be inducted into the 2013 Rock Hall. Follow me on Twitter (@JJElektric) to find out if Joan and the Blackhearts will be one of them. (I will tweet it before I will be able to come home and blog about it.)

You voted well, Jettheads! We got The Blackhearts onto the OFFICIAL fan ballot. WE DID IT!

Michael Norman (@MichaelNormanPD), the Online Arts & Entertainment Editor for the Plain Dealer, also gets a Rock Hall vote, and he voted for Joan too!

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts: “My guilty-pleasure pick. Rocked harder than many men in the hall with a great ability to blend pop sensibilities with a rock attitude.”

Remember, these are only two votes out of hundreds, so it is not a predictor on whether The Blackhearts will actually get in. But think positive thoughts!

Jettheads have plenty to celebrate despite Rock Hall snub

When the official list of 2012 inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame circulated last week, without Joan Jett and the Blackhearts on it, we were all disappointed and sad. But I think I wallowed in it a little longer than I should have. The truth is, we Jettheads still have plenty to be happy about! For example:

1. THEY WERE NOMINATED. I still remember the blinding joy–and total surprise–I felt when I first found out that The Blackhearts were on the ballot. It’s now one of my favorite Jetthead memories, and I’m always going to carry it with me.

2. WE GOT THEM INTO THE TOP 5 OF THE ROCK HALL’S READERS’ POLL. This is the first year the Rock Hall has done one of these polls, although we knew the results would not affect the outcome. The Rock Hall hasn’t published the final results anywhere yet, and the poll has been taken down, but I watched that thing like a hawk up until the last day it was open, and I know Joan Jett and The Blackhearts were in 5th place. And this poll didn’t even allow multiple votes!

3. WE EARNED GOLDMINE MAGAZINE’S VOTE. Goldmine was the only official Rock Hall voter I heard of that gave its readers full reign over its ballot. Our votes in their online poll landed Joan one of the coveted spots. This poll didn’t allow multiple votes either. Great job!

4. WE ARE NOT ALONE. The haters are definitely out there (aren’t they always?), but Jettheads didn’t champion for Joan in a vacuum. Many blogs and articles expressed outrage at The Blackhearts’ exclusion. (Salon.com, sheknows.com, and austinchronicle.com are among the most vociferous in defense of Joan.) Not that we need to care about random bloggers or journalists: Michael J. Fox and Lita Ford are on our side!

Lita’s interview from Examiner.com in October:

Q: What do you think of Joan (Jett’s) nomination for the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame?
A:
Oh, it’s great! She absolutely deserved it.

But the best thing to be grateful for?

Hard to Grow Up:

Who deserves Goldmine’s vote to join the Rock Hall in 2012?

From Goldminemag.com:

“It’s that time of year again: Goldmine gets to cast its official vote with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the next year’s inductees.

So who should get Goldmine’s endorsement this year? That, dear voters, is all up to you. While we can’t promise that Goldmine’s picks will be the same as the artists who make the Rock Hall’s cut for induction, we can promise that our vote will be based solely on what you, the fans, feel is right. Goldmine is one of roughly 600 final voters to receive ballots.

The poll is in the sidebar on the right-hand side, about half-way down the page. They will only let you vote ONCE, so PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, spread this around to all of your Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, message boards, and any other social networking sites you use. We can’t guarantee that The Blackhearts will win, but we can at least get them this one vote.

KRISTEN STEWART FANS:

In the name of all that is Stewy, can  you help us Jettheads out by voting for Joan Jett and the Blackhearts? Pretty please? 🙂

Do you know of any other Rock Hall voters that are deciding their votes this way? If so, please post the link in the comments.

Thank You!!

VOTE Joan Jett and the Blackhearts for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Jettheads, we have work to do.

I know that of all of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees, only the 5 that receive the most votes will get inducted. And I know that popular vote–by the fans–has no bearing on the outcome. But there are online fan polls, and I want us to make a good showing. We must stand up for Joan, and everyone that’s ever worn the Blackheart hat.

Please vote in the rockhall.com’s fan poll, and vote often–multiple votes count. Joan Jett and the Blackhearts are currently in 6th place. We have to get them higher!

Future Rock Legends is giving The Blackhearts’ only a 17% chance of getting inducted, which is partially based on their own poll results. Vote here and let’s get that number higher!
