UPDATE: Voting for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards ends on Saturday, June 5, 2010. Don’t give up!
The nominees have been announced, and voting has begun for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards.
Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning have been nominated in the Best Kiss category for The Runaways, along with Kristen Stewart and some dude in that wolf movie (teehee). See the kiss in HQ and VOTE for Kristen and Dakota HERE.
That’s the film’s only official nomination. We all know Kristen and Dakota deserved to get nominated in the Best Female Performance category for their respective performances as Joan Jett and Cherie Currie, but they didn’t.
But we can vote in another category and pretend it’s for The Runaways: Global Superstar — Kristen Stewart. If you loved Kristen as Joan, I think we should vote for Kristen in this category to make up for her lack of a nomination for her Joan Jett performance. Pretty nice consolation prize, huh? VOTE HERE and vote often–Robert Pattinson is nominated in the same category. Kristen needs all the help we can give her! I like this idea so much, I made a badge and I’ll put it in my sidebar so it’s always visible. Please share this on all your sites!
The 2010 MTV Movie Awards will air Sunday, June 6 at 9/8c.
OK, now I start the process of catching up on 20 days of missed blogging opportunities. This is going to take a while, so bear with me!
Here are all of The Runaways-related TV appearances made by Joan Jett, Kristen Stewart, and Dakota Fanning in the month of March. I’m doing it in chronological order, because I’m all librarian-like. I know I posted some of them before, but I want to have them all in one place, because I’m also all lazy-like. Enjoy!
Tuesday, March 9, 2010, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno:
Vodpod videos no longer available.
more about “joan“, posted with vodpod
Dakota Fanning is on George Lopez’s show, Lopez Tonight, on TBS, 11:00 PM Eastern time, TONIGHT. (Sorry about the late notice!)
Joan Jett and the Blackhearts will be on David Letterman on Wednesday, 3/24.
I’ll do a talk show roundup post this week to gather all of the recent talk show appearances into one place.
If you haven’t visited the official website for The Runaways movie recently, GO NOW. I’ll wait. 🙂
The site has been redesigned, and it is full of WIN. They’ve added:
- Links for the new Twitter, MySpace, and YouTube pages
- A link to soundtrack info (which I won’t click on until after I see the movie).
- Downloadable wallpapers and chat icons.
- New production stills.
- Video clips of the real Runaways
- Bio pages for each cast member, including one for Joan as executive producer. (The only bad part of the site is that they spelled Scout Taylor-Compton’s name wrong. I hope they fix that soon!)
But the best part is that Dakota Fanning’s version of “Cherry Bomb” plays on a continuous loop on the site. (You can mute the audio on the page if you don’t want to listen to it for two hours straight like I have. :))
Back in December, Cherie Currie herself confirmed, on this blog, that Dakota Fanning sang “Cherry Bomb” in the movie, without any enhancements from Cherie’s voice. After hearing the whole track, there should now be no doubt. While Dakota’s voice captures Cherie Currie’s attitude and power perfectly, it definitely has its own tone that is distinguishable from Cherie. I LOVE IT.
I think I’ve said this before, but as a long-time Runaways fan, I feel so…honored by all of this.
The Tonight Show with Jay Leno has started to announce its guest lineup for March, and Joan, Kristen, and Dakota are appearing on three separate days during the same week:
Tuesday, March 9 – Guests include Christoph Waltz, Animal Expert Dave Salmoni and a musical performance by Joan Jett and The Blackhearts*
Wednesday, March 10 – Guests include Kristen Stewart and Guy Fieri
Friday, March 12 – Guests include Dakota Fanning and Judd Apatow
*Note: March 9th is the release date of Joan Jett and the Blackhearts’ Greatest Hits. I put the links for preordering it on CD and vinyl in the left-hand sidebar, under a new section called “NEW STUFF”, along with The Runaways anthology and the Joan Jett and Cherie Currie books. Check them out and tell your friends!

Thanks to @kstewadmirers for Tweeting this:
Fandango has published an edited version of an interview that Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart did at Sundance about The Runaways. Here’s a short snippet:
Q: We talked to Cherie, who said she feels like she’s living in a dream because you’re playing her, and Joan said you guys had very similar energy. How much time did you guys spend with them before and during the production?
Dakota: A lot. They were there pretty much every day and I spent a lot of time with Cherie before we started filming. I think it was important that they were there… because it’s their life, you know?
Kristen: There wasn’t a period of ‘let’s feel this out and see how much we’re willing to delve into personal aspects of your lives and how much we’re willing to expose ourselves’…but we really liked each other…there was just something really special.
Q: Was part of your attraction to the role the fact that this is about something that’s still very taboo…women doing certain things?
Kristen: Yeah, that was a huge thing and especially for Joan, it’s still such a huge [thing].…we’re girls that have both been brought up thinking we can do whatever we want and there are a lot of very empowered females [now], but it just wasn’t like that then. And I think that people don’t really realize that The Runaways were the first girls to play music like that and it could have been someone else, but it wasn’t. It was them.

And here is the full audio from that interview. It contains some foul language. (Go Stew!) This is the “p*ssy” to the wood” interview. 🙂
I don’t remember seeing this before:
Joan Jett and the Blackhearts headline the weekend party atmosphere at the Sundance Film Festival. Video

Here are all of the new video clips about The Runaways since the last time I posted some. There have also been a lot of online interviews, but I will only post the ones that are not re-hashes of interviews that I’ve already posted the video or audio of.
Just to inform you: I am completely serious about not wanting to be spoiled for The Runaways movie, so I’m not going to read or post any of the reviews. It makes no difference to me if this film is a critical success or not. The band itself never was, so I don’t care what critics think about them now.
On with the show! Continue reading
Kristen Stewart Fans has an UHQ version of the teaser poster for The Runaways. It’s huge:
And here are some more interviews from Sundance. Continue reading
I have decided to not read any reviews of the film until after I see the movie. I don’t need the spoilers or the opinions of so-called “journalists”. All I need is my rock and roll. If you want to read the articles and reviews, check them out at the Joan Jett Fanclub website (joanjettbadrep.com), Kristen Stewart Fans, or any of the wonderful people I mentioned in my “Jetthead’s Guide to the 2010 Sundance Film Festival” post. They will all take good care of you.
The folks at the Kristen Stewart Fans site have summarized Day 1 and Day 2 of the festival HERE (day 1), HERE (day 2 part 1), and HERE (day 2 part 2).
I’ll continue to post video or audio interviews, especially any of Joan. Here are some more: Continue reading
Here are some videos of interviews that Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning did at Sundance. Enjoy!
And, our good friend @larry411 posted pics of Joan at the Harry O’s show from Saturday HERE. I’ll go through all of the press from that show this week and update the concert archive.
…Or, Stewdance, as my online KStew friends are calling it, because Kristen Stewart has two films at the festival, Welcome to the Rileys, and, of course, The Runaways.
The Sundance Film Festival starts TODAY, people! At 4 PM Eastern, the kick-off press conference will stream live HERE. Continue reading
MTV posted the trailer a little early. I wonder if they’ll show a longer one tomorrow morning?

The official Runaways movie website is also up. There’s not much to it yet, but I’m sure it will be updated before the movie premiers. Check it out:

Aaaaaah!!! I am officially afraid to leave my house so I don’t miss anything else! I don’t really need to Christmas shop, look for a job, clean my house, or love my husband, do I? #joking
I took a small break to take care of some real-life stuff, and I wound up being late to the party for a HECK load of news surrounding The Runaways movie. So, here’s what I missed. I’ll start with the big stuff:
1. The Runaways movie has secured distribution in both the US and Spain. Aurum acquired the Spanish rights, and Apparition acquired the US rights. Apparition will release The Runaways in the US on March 19, 2010 (one week after the release of Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson’s Remember Me). Apparition is a new distribution company founded earlier in 2009.
2. Sundance.com released a first-look picture for the film, and announced that the film will have three showings in Park City, Utah, on January 24, 25, and 30, in addition to the one showing in Madison, Wisconsin on January 28.
Kstewfangirl has a larger version of the same picture HERE.
(More cool stuff after the jump.)
Thanks to joanjettbadrep.com for this scoop: The Runaways movie will be screened at the Sundance Film Festival’s Madison, Wisconsin theater at 7:30 PM on Thursday, January 28, 2010. Tickets are on sale now! The film will only show once.
HERE is the main site for the theater.
Click here to go to the main ticket ordering page. (You can also get here from the main site.) Once inside the ticket ordering page:
1. Under “For Future Schedules or to Purchase Tickets for a Future Date,” click GO.
2. Select January 2010 from the Display Month drop-down box.
3. Click on the 28th in the calendar.
4. Click the show time to purchase your tickets.
Tickets are only $15.00.
Have fun if you go, and tell us all about it! (But please don’t send me any spoilers! I don’t even want to know the songs that appear in the film. I want everything to be a surprise when I see it in the theater. Thanks!)
Hannah Marks plays “Tammy” in The Runaways movie, who Hannah describes as “a compilation of different people” in Joan’s life.
Rebecca Murray interviewed Hannah for About.com, complete with a video. Here’s an excerpt:
Were you a fan of Joan Jett? Did you know her music?
Hannah Marks: “I didn’t really know who…I knew who she was but I wasn’t really like a hardcore fan. But I started getting really into her music, once I booked the movie. And she’s so amazing and she looks so hot for 50 years old. Oh my god.”
Does she really? I haven’t seen a picture of her in a long time.
Hannah Marks: “She was actually just in Elle magazine and she looks amazing. She was actually on set every day, which was really cool.”
(Ummmm, lady, if you haven’t seen a picture of Joan Jett in a really long time, WHY did you want to interview this girl about The Runaways?)
Watch the video and/or read the rest of the transcript HERE. (Or click the image below. The site won’t let me embed the video.) It’s a cute interview.
Click to watch video on About.com.
Hannah doesn’t specifically mention her character’s name, but it’s listed as “Tammy” on the movie’s IMDB page.
Talk about The Runaways starts about half-way through: Vodpod videos no longer available.
