Australia gets TWO NEW Joan Jett tunes on March 15th!

JJBH_Greatest_Hits

[Post updated with track listing screen shot. See below.] The Blackhearts are re-releasing their Greatest Hits package in Australia on March 15th, and it will include BOTH “TMI” and “Reality Mentality.”

Pre-order HERE: https://itunes.apple.com/au/album/greatest-hits/id606209677

The previews of both studio tracks are on YouTube. (Thanks, Jaz. 🙂 ) They sound great, but now I’m foaming at the mouth. I can’t wait to hear the whole songs!

“TMI”:

“Reality Mentality:

Now the bottom of the Australia tour poster with The Darkness makes sense, although “Any Weather” is not included in this release like the poster promised. (“Any Weather” is the love song that Joan wrote with Dave Grohl.) There is a chance that the track listing will change before March 15th, as iTunes warns: “Please note: The pre-order contents listed here are subject to change without notice and the final product received may differ.” I’ll check back on the 15th and see if anything else was added. Here’s a screenshot of what’s on there now (thanks Jaz!)

The rest of the world can’t be far behind, Jettheads! I’ve been Joanzing for new tunes for a while now, although waiting 7 years for a new album is comparatively easy when you remember that we waited 12 years for Sinner. That. Was. Not. Fun. (No jinxes!)

Congratulations, Australia!

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts are supporting The Darkness (@TheDarkness) on their headlining tour in Australia this April! Read more here. (But ignore the title of the article for now–I don’t think Lady Gaga will be there, although if I hear differently I’ll let you know).

I’ll post the details about the Melbourne show when they are announced. I hope they add more dates!

VIDEO: Joan Jett on Australia’s Rage

Joan Jett introduced a lot of great music Saturday night on ABC Australia’s Rage. She filmed her spots in an animal sanctuary while cuddling koalas, kangaroos, and face-eating lizards.  😯

One of our Australian Jetthead buddies, @DeadEnd_Kid, was kind enough to tape Joan’s intros and Jettigre was kind enough to upload them to YouTube. Thanks guys!

Announcement & ticket info for Sydney show

My Jetthead twitter pal, @Mel452, was kind enough to send me the latest Annandale Hotel newsletter containing the special announcement of The Blackhearts’ January gig:

************************************

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS COME TO SYDNEY!

Yep, the iconic US performer, and subject of the recent Hollywood {coming of age classic,} The Runaways (Joan Jett’s teenage pre-Blackhearts band), will perform her one and only headline Sydney show at the infamous Annandale Hotel on Friday 7th January 2011.

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts take their amazing repertoire, culled from 6 platinum and 2 gold albums, to Sydney.

This is a once in lifetime chance to see Joan Jett and the Blackhearts in a small club. (The choice of venue has come from Joan Jett herself).

You will never have a chance to see this legendary act perform in a more intimate setting than the Annandale Hotel.

Tickets for this extraordinary one-off will be available from www.annandalehotel.com: 9.00am Tuesday 16th NOVEMBER and are expected to sell out on release.

For a chance to register for pre-sale tickets join the Feel Presents mailing list www.feelpresents.com or email kristie@annandalehotel.com for details.

It sounds like everyone in Sydney is excited for this show, and I’m excited for you! 😀

*NEW* Joan Jett tour date in Sydney, Australia

A little Jetthead birdie in my email told me today that The Blackhearts are performing at Annandale Hotel in Sydney, Australia, on Friday, January 7th, 2011. This date is in addition to the three Australian festivals The Blackhearts are already scheduled to perform at earlier that month. (I talked about those here and here.) The Annandale Hotel will be a more intimate pub show, which will be great for fans near Sydney who can’t get close enough to the festivals! (I can’t get a feel for exactly how big or small the venue is just from the website. Can any Australian Jettheads help me out with a description?)

Tickets for the Annandale show go on sale November 16th. http://www.news.com.au made the announcement, along with a short interview with Joan: Continue reading

Joan Jett’s Australian dates: Festival tickets on sale NOW

Tickets went on sale just a few hours ago (Thursday, September 9th, Australia time) for all three of the festivals that Joan Jett and the Blackhearts are scheduled to perform in December and January. (Australia: I apologize for posting this so late, but I’m on the East coast of the US and it’s still Wednesday here. I only found out about this last night and couldn’t post until now.)

1. The Falls Festival. The Lorne festival has sold out, but there are still tickets for Marion Bay. There may be a few packages for Lorne left over through Virgin Blue. See the Falls Festival official website for details and tickets. They’ve temporarily taken down the lineup pages to allow ticket purchases to go through more easily, but they will restore the lineup later today. (Via Twitter). The last time I checked, The Blackhearts were scheduled to play both cities, but the exact dates had not been announced. I’ll check back later.

2. Southbound Festival. Buy tickets HERE. “There are various tickets and ticket combinations available, and different artists play on different days (click here (http://www.southboundfestival.com.au/artists) for more details), therefore it is extremely important to ensure you select the correct ticket type.” If you go to the artists’ page linked above and click “Sunday”, you will see Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. They’re listed only under “All” and “Sunday”, so it looks like The Blackhearts will perform on Sunday, January 2, 2011.

3. Sunset Sounds. Ticket info is HERE. Buy tickets from Ticketmaster or Moshtix. The festival runs on January 5th and 6th, 2011, but the exact date of The Blackhearts’ show hasn’t been announced. Which sucks, because if you really want to see Joan there, at this point, you will have to pay $238 for a 2-day pass.

I’ve been getting a lot of questions from Australian Jettheads asking if Joan is scheduled to play anywhere else in Australia, preferably in a club and not in a huge festival setting. Unfortunately, nothing has been announced, but as soon as I hear anything I’ll post it. You have been waiting patiently for Joan to come back to you since 1995, so I can definitely feel your pain! Hopefully, these festival dates will cause enough buzz around Australia to warrant a more thorough tour of the area. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Joan Jett will spend New Year’s in AUSTRALIA!

Joan Jett and The Blackhearts are returning to Australia for the first time since 1995*, when they play three festivals in December and January.

I have no idea who took this beautiful picture. Whoever you are, thank you!

Tickets go on sale soon! None of the festivals’ schedules have been finalized yet, so check the following sites for more info and tickets:

1. The Falls Festival, December 28, 2010 – January 1, 2011:

This festival is in two cities, Marion Bay, Tasmania, and Lorne, Victoria. The Blackhearts are on the list to play in both cities, but I don’t know which dates are in which city. Visit the official festival website for more details and tickets. Also follow the official festival Twitter.
