On September 25, PETA’s 30th Anniversary Gala & Humanitarian Awards will be held in Hollywood. The star-studded event, which will award celebrities for their work in animal rights activism, will be hosted by Alec Baldwin.
AfterElton.com is reporting that Joan Jett will be one of the honorees, along with Tim Gunn, Kellan Lutz, and Charo, among others. I haven’t found any other source that mentions her explicitly, but I hope it’s true! PETA’s official site for the gala does not list the honorees. If you hear any more about these awards before I do, let us know!
Whether or not Joan is honored on September 25th, she is unlikely to attend the event herself because The Blackhearts are scheduled to perform at the Virgin Mobile FreeFest at the Merriweather Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland that same night.
Joan has supported PETA for years and is always popping up on their “sexiest vegetarian” lists. Back in May, Joan stood in New York’s Union Square and passed out vegetarian starter kits to passers-by. She also filmed a vegetarian testimonial:Vodpod videos no longer available.
