Joan Jett and The Blackhearts were scheduled to perform with Styx and Grand Funk Railroad at the Great Jones County Fair in Monticello, Iowa, on Saturday, July 24th, but their show was called off in the wake of a devastating flood caused by a dam breach at Lake Delhi. (source and source.)
While I am obviously concerned for the safety of all of the bands and their crews, my heart goes out to the people in Iowa that have lost their homes or businesses to the flood. As a Pittsburgher, I live in one of the soggiest places in the country, and the fear of a major flood is always in the back of my mind. I’ve seen enough.
If you would like to donate to the cleanup efforts, you can donate directly to the Grant Wood Area chapter of the American Red Cross, or to the Red Cross’s Disaster Relief Fund, which helps victims of natural disasters both locally and globally.
To all current, past, and future flood victims all over the world, Jetthads and non-Jettheads alike, this is for you. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
